Sen. Michael Bennet to announce support for Iran Deal
DENVER—The Denver Post reported that in a few hours, Colorado Sen. Michael Bennet will become the latest senator to publicly declare support for the Iran Deal. The announcement will end weeks of speculation on how he would vote on the controversial agreement.
Bennet will “unveil a new legislative plan that Bennet says will strengthen the deal while steering more money to Israel for its national defense.”
Advancing Colorado Executive Director Jonathan Lockwood released the following statement:
“Bennet just proved himself to be one of the worst types of politicians. The Iran Deal will secure a dangerous nuclear ‘deal’ with the leading state sponsor of terror and Bennet will bear the responsibility for the chaos that ensues. Instead of being a puppet we need a senator who will stand up not only to our lawless president but to the bad actors on the global stage. Coloradans are going to light Bennet up with their fury for having meetings behind closed doors rather than talking to them, and stalling until finally coming out with D.C.-refined bogus position.”
“Our primary objectives are to prevent Iran from having a nuclear weapon, make sure Israel is safe and, if possible, avoid another war in the Middle East,” said Bennet in a statement that was released first to The Denver Post. “This agreement represents a flawed, but important step to accomplish those goals.”
From the Colorado Statesman:
“A Quinnipiac University poll released Tuesday found that 55 percent of those surveyed nationally oppose the deal while 25 percent support it, virtually the same results as its Aug. 3 poll despite heavy advertising since then on both sides.”
