CU hosting ColoradoCare debate at Anschutz Medical Campus Mar. 2 at 12:00P4M

DENVER—On Wednesday, Mar. 2 at 12:00 PM the University of Colorado School of Medicine will be hosting a debate on ColoradoCare at the Anschutz Medical Campus. ColoradoCare, Amendment 69, is the single-payer 2016 ballot question proposing a $25 billion-a-year income tax hike. The proposal seeks to entitle an unaccountable, taxpayer-funded bureaucracy with 100 percent control over health care. The new taxpayer-funded system will be exempt from the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights (TABOR).

Advancing Colorado Executive Director Jonathan Lockwood will be featured as an opponent of the measure, detailing the non-partisan free market group’s opposition to the ballot proposal.

“ColoradoCare will ration our health care and raise our taxes to pay for a new unaccountable, secretive bureaucracy,” said Lockwood. “Coloradans on both sides of the aisle don’t want to see years of hard work and investment thrown away, instead we want to see real reforms that lower costs, and improve quality and access.”

Advancing Colorado, has received recognition in national and state media, spearheaded the opposition coalition to the measure, is the leading voice against the proposal and recently ran a digital ad campaign called, “ColoradoCare is a killer.” Also featured as an opponent to ColoradoCare will be Dr. Jill Vecchio, a practicing physician and a leading free-market voice in health care reform.

“It’s time folks heard the truth behind this ballot measure.  So far Coloradans have only heard the ColoradoCare marketing campaign,” added Vecchio.

ColoradoCare spokesman T.R. Reid and state Sen. Irene Aguilar, D-Denver, will be present at the debate, advocating for the tax hike proposal.
