Export-Import Bank reauthorization is disgraceful, shameful
DENVER—Late tonight, the Senate voted to reauthorize the Export-Import Bank, a Washington institution known for cronyism, corruption and fraud. The reauthorization was attached to a long-term highway funding bill.
Advancing Colorado Executive Director Jonathan Lockwood offered the following statement:
“It is an outrage for American workers that senators chose to hijack legislation to reauthorize the corrupt, crony corporate welfare ‘bank’ for foreign interests and competitors. The unacceptable practice of robbing taxpayers to give money to foreign interests, some who have committed human rights violations, is disturbing. Now we must hope that the House of Representatives kills this Ex-Im revival.”
