CAMPAIGN: “Reform the VA. Protect our veterans.”
DENVER—Today, Advancing Colorado launched a digital campaign, “Reform the VA. Protect our veterans.” The campaign will be using digital capabilities to raise awareness of the VA Accountability Act, featuring a petition to tell Colorado Sen. Michael Bennet to support the measure. The digital ads will be promoted on Google and on Facebook.
The VA Accountability Act passed the House of Representatives, but must still be passed in the Senate before it can be signed into law. The bill will make it easier to fire employees who are found guilty of misconduct, abuse or incompetence, and it also will help protect whistleblowers.
Below is text featured on the campaign micro-site:
“More than 300,000 veterans may have died waiting for health care and Sen. Michael Bennet won’t take action to stop it. Sen. Michael Bennet won’t take action to stop it.
The VA Accountability ACT will help change the toxic culture of misconduct, mismanagement and incompetence within the VA. So why doesn’t Michael Bennet support it?
It’s time to hold government accountable and to provide our veterans with the care they deserve and desperately need.”
Advancing Colorado Executive Director Jonathan Lockwood released the following statement:
“Veterans and their families have sacrificed for our country, we owe them the best health care we can provide. The VA must face reform to make critical changes to the toxic culture that promotes misconduct and incompetence. Sen. Michael Bennet should put his vote where his mouth is and support this bill.”
